About Boat Safety Hub
A free, independent guide for boaters getting their boat through its BSS.
What it is
Boat Safety Hub helps boat owners find a Boat Safety Scheme examiner, understand what the examination checks, and sort out insurance. It is free to use and you don't need an account.
Who runs it
Boat Safety Hub is run by Towpath Digital Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16913912. We also run The Boat Index and The Boat Market.
We are not part of the Boat Safety Scheme. We don't carry out examinations or issue certificates. Only a BSS examiner can do that.
How examiner listings work
- We only list an examiner who is on the official BSS examiner register.
- Each listing shows the name, counties, phone number and website as the register gives them, and the date we last checked.
- If an examiner leaves the register, we take their listing down.
- We never rank examiners, and nobody can pay to be listed or to appear higher.
How insurers are listed
Firms are listed A to Z, never ranked. Each one is checked on the FCA register. We are not an insurer or a broker and we don't sell policies or pass on your details.
How it's paid for
Towpath Digital pays for the site. Examiners and insurers pay nothing to be listed.
